Preparations are in full swing in New Delhi for the 2023 G20 summit to be held at the sprawling Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan to be held later this week. It is not just the first G20 summit to be held in India but also the first time that the summit is being hosted by a South Asian country.
Additionally, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is also fully prepared for the summit. In anticipation of a potential rise in the number of passengers using the Delhi Metro during this time, the metro system will offer the Tourist Smart Card for purchase between September 4 and September 13 at dedicated counters located at 36 metro stations.
According to officials, there will be two types of Tourist Smart Cards, the first of which will have a one-day validity and the second will have a three-day validity. With these cards, commuters will be able to ride the metro “unlimited times".
A senior official claimed that although Tourist Smart Cards are frequently sold, a special counter has been put up to sell them in anticipation of the G20 summit. They will go on sale starting on Monday, September 4 for the following ten days. He added that after arriving in Delhi, these specialised counters will facilitate G20 delegates and foreign guests who may be interested in visiting major tourist attractions.
According to DMRC, a card with a one-day validity would cost Rs 200, while a card with a three-day validity will cost Rs 500, plus a Rs 50 security deposit. Kashmere Gate, Chandni Chowk, Chawri Bazaar, New Delhi, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Lok Kalyan Marg and Supreme Court metro stations are among the 36 stations where special kiosks would be set up for the sale of these cards, the DMRC said.
Apart from this, traffic will be completely shut off at Moti Bagh, Bhikaji Cama Place, Munirka, RK Puram, IIT and Sadar Bazar Cantonment Metro stations as per an order by the Delhi Metro Police.

Undoubtedly, this trend has not just helped the men learn some aesthetics; it has also helped them gain confidence.
Here are some TikTok users who shared these impressive before-and-after videos on the platform, which have garnered huge traction.
Yzelle Durán: This content creator shared a short clip on TikTok about her husband, which has become a huge trend, amassing over 2.8 million views. The video shows multiple clips of the disheveled men prior to their relationship, and after a makeover, the viewers are treated to the ‘after' picture, which shows Yzelle's husband striking influencer's poses following his fashion overhaul.

Prior to meeting his partner, Gabe shared that he went out in a crop top and blue jeans and dressed in white khakis and a thrifted women's blouse, but after his girlfriend came into his life, he ditched those outfits for puffer jackets and a sweatshirt, as well as a different hairstyle.
At the same time, while this ‘girlfriend effect' sounds like a win-win, it has its downsides too. As quoted by Lad bible, some TikTokers have expressed concerns about depersonalizing men's wardrobes.
In a viral video about the same, a TikTok user explained that women unintentionally risked ‘overhauling their boyfriends and completely redesigning them'. If this woman is helping him find a more tasteful way of executing his personal style, that's one thing. But a lot of women are not doing that.”
“They are just purely telling their boyfriends what to wear and getting rid of any sort of personal style that these boys have accumulated for themselves,” they added.
Meanwhile, a pretty disheartening trend called ‘boyfriend air' is also making waves on the internet, in which women share their transformation story with their past photos as they spend more time with their partners and spend less time on self-care.
What are your views on this ‘girlfriend effect'?

Kejriwal Bungalow Row
A preliminary enquiry was registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into allegations about irregularities in renovating the official residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the national capital.
According to sources, the agency sought papers from the Public Works Department (PWD) about how the project was sanctioned.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rejected the allegation of any wrongdoing and said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has used all its strength to destroy the AAP.
“Till now they have filed more than 50 cases against Kejriwal and got the investigation done. But they did not find anything. Nothing will come out of this either. No matter how much investigation the BJP wants, Arvind Kejriwal will continue to fight for the interests of the common man,” Kejriwal-led party said.
The preliminary enquiry is the first step to ascertain if the allegations have prima facie material to proceed with a regular FIR.
The anti-corruption branch of the CBI has demanded from the PWD records related to the approval and recommendation of its officials related to alteration, tender documents, bids submitted by contractors, approval of building plans and requests from the client for superior specifications like modular kitchen, marble flooring and other ornamental work, they said.
Delhi BJP leader Kapil Mishra alleged that Kejriwal has committed the sin of building an illegal “Sheeh Mahal” with the money of the people of Delhi.
“CBI registers case against Kejriwal's illegal bungalow. During the Corona period, Kejriwal has committed the sin of building an illegal ‘Sheeh Mahal' with the money of the people of Delhi. Kejriwal cannot escape punishment for this crime,” Mishra posted on X.

Anant Chaturdashi 2023
The nation is currently immersed in seeking blessings of Ganpati Bappa, as the ten-day long Ganesh Chaturthi festivities are going on in different states. The Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, which started on September 19, will come to an end on September 28, on the day of Anant Chaturdashi. Ganesh Visarjan or the immersion of idols is held on Anath Chaturdashi day.
Anant Chaturdsashi is dedicated to ‘Anant' or the infinitive form of Lord Vishnu. Devotees of Lord Vishnu observe a day-long fast and tie sacred threads during puja. It is believed that this sacred thread protects devotees from all sorts of trouble.
Worshipping Lord Vishnu on the day of Anant Chaturdashi brings immense prosperity, happiness, and blessings into one's life. To achieve success and a prosperous life by worshipping Lord Vishnu on this auspicious day, consider implementing these effective tips suggested by Bhopal-based astrologer and Vastu consultant, Pandit Hitendra Kumar Sharma.
Here are the few rituals to be followed on Anant Chaturdashi as suggested by Pandit Sharma:
1. After worshipping Lord Vishnu on Anant Chaturdashi, one should tie a silk thread on their arms. The thread should have 14 knots. It is known as Anant Sutra or Raksha Sutra.
2. As per religious beliefs, worshipping Lord Vishnu appropriately and tying a thread on the arm increases self-confidence and protects the devotees from all troubles.
3. Pandit Sharma also highlighted the importance and benefits of worshipping the Satyanarayan form of Lord Vishnu on the day of Anant Chaturdashi. He suggests that this act can fill your life with pure joy and contentment.
4. Worshiping Lord Satyanarayan on this day removes Vastu dosh from your house and fights off all the negative energies. This results in a more peaceful environment in the house and also brings prosperity to home.
5. It is recommended that on the day of Anant Chaturdashi, 14 nutmegs should be immersed in a holy river. This boosts the flow of positive energy and keeps negativity at bay.
6. Take fourteen cloves and camphor and burn them together to ensure an increase in wealth, happiness, and prosperity and to eliminate negative energy.

DGCA rules out intervening in dispute between Akasa Air and its pilots
India's aviation authorities have ruled out intervening in a dispute between Akasa Air and its pilots after the budget carrier accused the regulator of inaction, a legal filing shows.
Over 40 of Akasa's 450 pilots quit without serving their notice in recent weeks, and the airline has sued some of them and challenged Indian authorities in court for not acting on its requests to deal with alleged pilot "misconduct". The airline has also warned of a shut down due to the crisis.
India mandates a notice period of 6-12 months for pilots which some pilot organisations are challenging in court. Akasa argues its contractual obligations with pilots remain in force, and is suing the regulator for not intervening in the public interest.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the aviation ministry in a Sept. 22 filing at the Delhi High Court said Akasa's plea should be thrown out as the regulator is unable to interfere in the matter.

The DGCA "does not have any power or delegated authority to interfere in any employment contract," it said.
Akasa, which has previously said it was in discussion with the DGCA, did not respond to a request for comment on the new filing, which has been seen by Reuters.
A DGCA official declined to comment.
Akasa has accused the DGCA of being "unwilling to take any action" which resulted in "significant financial and operational hardship" to the airline
The pilot resignations caused 632 flight cancellations in August, according to Akasa, an estimated 18% of the roughly 3,500 flights the airline usually operates in a month.
The DGCA contested that position in its court filing, saying it "categorically denies" that Akasa "provided any documents or reasons" in respect of cancellation as a result of pilot exits.
Sharing data, it said only 1.17% of Akasa's flights were cancelled in August.
The 6,000 member Federation of Indian Pilots have also responded to Akasa's plea, saying flight cancellation numbers were "unsubstantiated" and that the DGCA can not interfere in the dispute.
"Alleged mass resignation of pilots ... also serves as an indication of employee discontent," the federation said.

iPhone 15 sales take off
Sales of Apple’s iPhone 15 series smartphones kicked off on a strong note in India on Friday, with at least three retailers complaining of a shortage of top end Pro and Pro Max models.
“We are seeing strong first-day sales of the new iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. However, we haven't managed to fully cash in on the general demand, as supplies of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are short right now," said a multi-brand phone retailer from Kolkata, requesting anonymity.
Similar shortages were reported from Delhi and Mumbai as well. A major multi-brand retailer in Delhi said that sales of the iPhone 15 series on the first day were “better than last year's", though the Pro models quickly went out of stock.
Following last year's iPhone 14 launch as well, there were limited supplies of the top models in November and December, leading to long waiting times. However, the previous shortage was sparked by a covid-19 outbreak in the iPhone factories in China, which doesn't trouble the supply chain any more.
However, retailers attributed the iPhone Pro stock-outs to poor supply, not excess demand. Demand for the the priciest iPhones costing as much as ₹2 lakh remains much lower than that for standard iPhones.
“Demand for the iPhone 15 Pro series is much less than the standard iPhone 15 models—for every 10 Pro iPhones sold, we're seeing orders for at least 80 standard models," the Kolkata-based retailer said.
This is in line with historical demand for the iPhone Pro models in India. According to data from market researcher International Data Corp. (IDC) India, the Pro models typically account for around 15% of all iPhone sales in the country, and it's the same this year as well.
The retailer, however, added that Apple has been more proactive about supplies this year. “Our second and third batch of orders are already in line—the second order for supplies is set to be approved today itself, while the third round is expected to be approved and processed by Apple by Monday. Until last year, this used to take up nearly 10 days for every round of orders," he said.
Manish Khatri, a partner at Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom, however, said overall demand is tepid. “Supplies of the Pro iPhones are low, leading to the devices being out of stock at the moment. But, this is not due to higher-than expected demand. More consumers are inquiring about the older series of Apple's iPhones, and they are likely to await the rollout of festive season offers before we see consumer demand ramp up," Khatri said.
An email query sent to Apple remained unanswered. Analysts expect the company to record its highest-ever shipments of over 9 million units of its iPhones in India this year. Even though this is still around a third of the overall shipments of market leader Samsung, it is expected to help Apple potentially capture the top spot in smartphone market revenue in India this year.
Apple's revenue market share is expected to be driven by its high average selling price (ASP) of its smartphones, which exceed ₹80,000 per unit sold, as compared with an industry average of around ₹20,000 per unit. On 4 August, Apple Inc.'s chief executive Tim Cook said the company achieved “strong double digits" growth to report record revenue in India for the June quarter. “We also opened our first two retail stores during the quarter. And it's, of course, early going currently, but they're currently beating our expectations in terms of how they're doing," Cook said.

Considering leaving Parliament
On BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri's remarks, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Danish Ali told reporters that he was considering leaving the Parliament. Danish Ali wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla regarding the BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri's communal remarks in the Lok Sabha adding that it was "heartbreaking" to him as a minority member.
Bidhuri's communally insensitive remarks, made during the discussion on the Chandrayan-3 Mission in Lok Sabha, have been expunged from the proceedings.
Breaking down, tearing up while talking to media, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Danish Ali said, “When this is the condition of an elected member like me then what will be the condition of a normal person."
The BSP MP said that he is considering leaving the Parliament, “I hope, I will get justice, Speaker will conduct an enquiry or else with a heavy heart, I'm also thinking of leaving this Parliament because this can't be tolerated."
"Is this why we are elected, is this why our ancestors sacrificed their lives for freedom... they (BJP) just did not insult me and my followers but they insulted the whole nation... now let's see if BJP is taking any action against Ramesh Bidhuri or if he will be promoted and included in the central cabinet of ministers...maybe it has become a competition among BJP leaders to make such statements not just outside but even inside the Parliament" Danish Ali added.
